Hallo and welcome to the website of the Dresden member of Saxon parliament, Lars Rohwer.
Why does a politician present himself in this way on the internet? I want to introduce myself as a person to you and bring you close to my political aims. The issues and interests of the citizens in my constituency are of great importance for me. These pages are designed for you and them to get in contact with me and my members of staff quickly and uncomplicated. We would be very honoured if you make use of this website whether through remarks, advice or also criticism.
Once a Saxon – Forever a Saxon: School And Education
Dresden is my home town. I was born here on the 1st of February 1972, I grew up and also went to school here. I moved from Dresden to Stuttgart in 1991 after the Abitur (German school-leaving examination, taken at the end of the 12th year in Saxony and approximately equivalent to the British A level/ American SAT exam). I stayed in Stuttgart for two years for my training as a qualified bank clerk. Since 1993 I have been back in my Saxon home and I have started to work at the “Dresdner Bank”.
Meddling: The Way Into Politics
Actually I wanted to do a teacher training at the University of Rostock, but here the changes during the peaceful revolution were much more exciting. As a young person one has a great urge for freedom and wants to take on the responsibility for ones life at last. That was not possible in the former GDR. That is why I meddled in to move something. My political career started in the “Neues Forum”, which means something like “New Forum”, in the period of upheaval in 1989. It was the first opposition party, which was able to change something. But soon my way lead me to the Christian Democratic Union (CDU). There were forces in the Neues Forum, which were critical of the German reunification. I belonged to those, who wanted to seize the opportunity. This attitude was also a result of my mothers experience, who had several struggles with powerful members of the workers and peasants state.
To Design Something: The Way Into The Saxon Parliament
During my education in 1991 I went to the Saxon parliament as the youngest member of parliament. In the year 1999 I became direct candidate of the CDU for the west of Dresden and had been elected with a 52% majority in the Saxon parliament. Politics had given me the opportunity to design a lot of things. So I decided to quit the job of the bank clerk. Despite this task can be very strenuous, which can be seen in my calendar, politics is still more tempting than my former job. I very rarely work less than 12 hours a day, but without this expenditure of time one cannot achieve anything. Being a politician I want to do everything to ensure that young persons can seize the opportunity, which I was not able to seize in times of the GDR.
To Take Responsibility: My Political Principle
Politics is more than a just a job for me. It also means commitment which goes out of the work in the Saxon parliament. Voluntary work with and for other people is the demand on my work. I also consider being a rolemodel a part of my responsibility as a politician. For that reason I am in an honorary capacity in many associations, like for example in the “DSC 1898” or in the aid association “Dresdner Kreuzchor”. Moreover I also support a lot of private initiatives. For instance I have offered to give up parts of my civil office in my constituency to the commercial business association “Kesselsdorfer Straße e.V.”
You will find more information on my life and my political work in German language on my homepage.
I wish you an entertaining “tour” through my work and the west of Dresden. Have a good time!
Lars Rohwer (member of the Saxon parliament)
